Description | The workshop provided a forum for open and frank discussion about the possibility of replacing or reducing primate use in the development of monoclonal antibodies (MAbs). There was general consensus that there are opportunities for reduction by the use of transgenic rodents and/or surrogate antibodies and replacement by the use of in vitro data and humans as the toxicology species. There are major challenges if these alternatives are to be realised in practice and accepted by regulatory bodies. |
