The central aim of the set Foundation (Stiftung zur Förderung der Erforschung von Ersatz-und Ergänzungsmethoden zur Einschränkung von Tierversuchen) is to reduce and replace animal experimentation. The Foundation is made up of representatives from industry, animal welfare, science and government. Their role is the transparent, interdisciplinary allocation of funds to eligible projects researching and implementing methods to replace and complement experiments on animals. The set Foundation helps industry, animal welfare organisations, research bodies and government to co-ordinate their efforts and work together towards a common goal: The refinement, reduction, and replacement of animal experiments through the active development of 3Rs methods. Eligible projects aim to reduce the number of animals used and/or their distress as effectively and broadly as possible. |
