Description | The present book summarises the results of ongoing research work on the 3Rs Principle (Refinement, Reduction, and Replacement of animal tests) funded within the Health theme of the Sixth and Seventh European Research and Technological Development (RTD) Framework Programmes (i.e. FP6 and FP7, respectively) in the context of policy needs, industry requirements and scientific challenges. It focuses on the increase of knowledge achieved over the last two years and gives an outlook to potential future research strategies and priorities. In this sense, the book should be considered a follow-up of the brochure on ‘Alternative Testing Strategies – Replacing, reducing and refining use of animals in research’(1) published in 2008. |
