Description The programme was initiated in 2004 by Vera Baumans, former professor of Laboratory Animal Science at KI and the maximum number of residents is 7. Training is individually tailored and supervised by four Swedish ECLAM Diplomates, one professor in Comparative Medicine and KI’s chief veterinarian. To join the programme, a permanent position as a veterinarian at one of the collaborating institutes is required. The Swedish programme comprises a four-year period of training. The objective is to provide the trainees with further education and training including both general and basic knowledge in the various fields of laboratory animal medicine and, in addition, the opportunity to become specialists in one of the disciplines relevant to laboratory animal medicine.
