Description SYRCLE is the research and education centre of the Central Animal Laboratory (CDL) of the Radboud University Medical Center. Systematic Review (SR) is the methodological approach SYRCLE has adopted for the Syntheses of Evidence (SE). SYRCLE (SYstematic Review Centre for Laboratory animal Experimentation) was officially founded in 2012. Already in 2008/2009 the research staff had shifted their focus from the 3Rs towards the execution of systematic reviews (SR), because these are a method to identify, appraise, select and synthesise all available research results. SRs help to improve scientific quality, facilitate the implementation of the 3Rs and –last but not least- aid in securing patient safety. SYRCLE focuses on the execution of SRs of animal studies towards more evidence-based translational medicine. To this effect SYRCLE developes education, methodological tools and guidelines, organizes workshops and coaches individuals wishing to perform a SR themselves.
