ANIMPACT is a unique project, launched by a multidisciplinary team of academic researchers from different EU Member States. The consortium includes ethicists, lawyers, sociologists, veterinarians and life scientists. Using a multi-disciplinary approach, we are looking at how biomedical research using animals work in interaction with existing regulations in the European Union. ANIMPACT will provide a deeper understanding of the impact of the new common legal framework for animal experimentation in the EU (Directive 2010/63/EU) on national research and innovation. It will use literature reviews, questionnaires, interviews, and focus groups to achieve this goal. The project will specifically consider the impact of the Directive on animal welfare as well as academic and commercial competitiveness. |
